In order to get out of doing any real work, I've been tweaking the design of the site lately and trying to get things to look the way I want them to, rather than the way they have to. Today I made some huge strides in this regard. Some of my favorite changes include:
- The Calendar has been removed from the sidebar and given its own navbar button. It pained me to do this as I wanted to keep it on the front page, but it just wasn't working. I plan to put it back as soon as I can, potentially as a footer. Let me know what you think of this
- Navbar now has text roll-overs so that there's some feedback when you mouse over them

- Removed a few of the topic roll-overs because I felt they were superfluous
- Took the iframe out of the subscribe page and moved all the feed links into the page itself, and then added the feed button to the bottom of it for good measure
- Moved the sidebar feed button to where the ad used to be, and then removed the ad itself. I have no intention generating funds with blind advertising like Adsense and I only placed it there as an example. Essentially I just wanted to show that if ads are placed on this site, they will always be in their own sections and they will not be allowed to draw focus from the content. I have to accept that advertising has its place, but I'll be damned if I allow "its place" to take precedence over something you actually care about
- Removed the "comments closed" footers from all pages; the only mention of comments should be in the posts themselves
The site looks a lot better now, and I hope you agree. Please let me know if like how it's evolving so I can continue to make it better. I appreciate all suggestions.
I'm working on a review of Dawn of War II and I'll be starting the same process for the GTA IV DLC Lost and The Damned as soon as possible. I plan on buying Street Fighter IV but I'm afraid every other gaming news medium has already beaten us to death with coverage, so I'm not sure if I'll review it. Let me know if you'd like me to, because chances are I won't be as kind as everyone else has been with their reviews.
This site's getting there, and soon. The real content work gears up as soon as I'm satisfied with the layout and thankfully I almost am. If you want to see any changes or specific content/coverage, please let me know and I will make it happen.
Until next time friends, happy gaming.
